Car Dealer Gets 6 Years For Laundering Drug Money
May 23, 1995

A former luxury car dealer was sentenced Monday to nearly six years in federal prison for laundering drug money on a $735,000 Ferrari sale.

Marvin Friedman, 54, of Miami, president of the bankrupt Autoputer Inc., pleaded guilty in March to one count of an indictment charging he sold costly cars knowing the buyers were drug dealers.

U.S. District Judge Wilkie Ferguson sentenced Friedman to 57 months in prison on his plea.

Friedman was accused of writing invoices that concealed cash laundered through the Hallandale dealership on trade-ins. In one case, a $50,000 trade-in was valued at $200,000, and the balance was laundered cash.

The Ferrari sale took place in 1989, and Autoputer failed in 1991 with nearly $2 million in debts. Friedman agreed to plead guilty in a separate case to defrauding three banks out of nearly $1.3 million by listing cars he was selling on consignment as company holdings

Doesn't surprise me a bit either.  Just desserts.  Probably just the tip of the iceberg with that guy, a real  :jack:

Oh we've met him in person. We were there for near a half hour looking at his shop. He a little 5 foot nothing nervous wreck. Maybe it's all the coke he was doing, I have no idea. But the way he was talking, and acting, coke users act like that. Nervous, shifty, unorganized.

With 3 of us there, he was really nervous, because he couldn't keep track of all 3 at the same time. That bothered him.

It's hard to win an argument with a smart person, but it's damned near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person.
