Title: On the scrounge.......
Post by: DownUnderDeville on November 03, 2013, 06:47:17 AM
I'm on the lookout for a replacement nose emblem for my '77 GP. Measures about 4 1/8" from the tip at the bottom to the "valley" at the top and about 1 7/8" across at the top.

The part number on the back is 499722. Gotta be in decent nick, not chipped/cracked etc.

Probably a long shot, but if any Misfits out there know of a wrecker or some-such that may have one, pleeeeeeze let me know.

Will gladly pay for your trouble, and I am not above any form of corruption whatsoever.  ;D

I just checked Year One which I thought would have a repro emblem for you but no luck.  They might have other things you need.

Be wary of their cheap repro crap. It's mostly good to sell the car. After a few months it falls apart.

You always say that, Fins.  This emblem from McVey's was installed in late 2001 and has been in the weather ever since.  This photo was taken in July of this year.

I just go by what has been purchased by various people that I know.

ie: a front fender that rusted in less than a year, door panels that cracked after a few months, rims that rusted after a few months, seat recoverings that wouldn't fit unless they were for a clown car, and the list goes on.

Just two things that I recall buying from McVey's. A washer bottle lid. Rusted out within a year, a battery hold down bar and threaded rods, lasted less than 6 months and you couldn't break the nuts loose on the hold down.

Buy what you like Forrest. Like who you like. I would much prefer to spend my hard earned money elsewhere.
