QuoteTruck will do a ¼ mile in 21 seconds at 61MPH.  It could go a lot faster with a numerically
lower rear axle ratio but it is very quick off of the line and is at 50MPH at the 1/8 mile mark

If this unit does not sell,  I will be racing it at this year's Diesel Drags October 19th in Hagerstown MD. Come on out and watch!  Here is the link to Antrim Diesel Days facebook page

1983 Seagrave Fire Truck Wagon Pumper Engine model HB-50 DH w/ 1000 Gallon Water Tank

Waterous CMUYCX 1500 GPM 2 Stage Pump. Manually shifted with lever in cab.

Detroit Diesel 8v92 turbocharged with blower, mechanically governed engine with 550 HP injectors, Jacobs Jake exhaust brake, 149 series high flow fuel pump, bypass blower valve, and brand new Horton fan clutch and plastic flex fan (saves fuel and reduces power draw by 50HP!!).

This engine is extremely powerful and will set you back in your seat! Most fire trucks are doggs and very slow...NOT THIS ONE!!

Here is a link to a few of many YouTube videos.  Just search fire truck mason dixon drag race burnout etc

Allison HT740 automatic transmission.

1000 GPM master stream deck gun water cannon

This fire truck is set up with mid-mount pump controls. The theory behind this was to get the pump operator up off of the street and have a better view of what is going on around him on the fire scene. All of the gauges have been replaced recently and are operational.

Excellent interior...no rips in seats. 2 rear jump seats are school bus driver seats (more comfortable than original SCBA seats). I still have original SCBA seats with air bottle brackets. They will go with truck.

Replaced hose bed wood 2 years ago with pressure treated lumber. Great shape.

250ft booster hose real in rear with electric re-wind

Brand new brakes all the way around (new shoes, hardware, new rear brake chambers)

Brand new front tires. Rear ones only have small amount of tread left but are not dry rotted. They could be replaced or just use them as slicks for drag racing/ burnouts. Truck will drive fine with these rear tires on a dry day but are not very good on a wet road. The truck has so much power they tend to spin a lot if it is wet.

Electrical/ Lighting:

Federal "Q" mechanical siren... VERY LOUD

Electronic Siren

2-Triple Beam "Night Fighter" Lights mounted on cab roof

2-500watt halogen scene lights on extendable poles mounted on bed of truck.

1200 watt on-board power inverter with multiple outlets around truck

Pioneer Am/Fm Radio/ CD player with remote. In-cab speakers as well as 2-6x9 speakers in rear.

This fire engine starts right up and roars to life with that Detroit Diesel 2-stroke sound even on the coldest of mornings. Truck has been meticulously maintained and serviced over its lifetime. This truck could be easily put back into service as a front-line first out the door fire engine, used as a party truck for weddings, kids birthday parties, special events, advertising and getting peoples attention, used as a water truck on job sites or to pump out swimming pools, used as a mechanics truck or service truck or you can even drag race it. Yes that's right...this truck has plenty of power and is set up to do a burnout and smoke the rear tires!! Truck will do a ¼ mile in 21 seconds at 61MPH. It could go a lot faster with a numerically lower rear axle ratio but it is very quick off of the line and is at 50MPH at the 1/8 mile mark. 61MPH is its top speed. Truck has been recently serviced (engine, transmission, fuel, and air filters) and all oils have been changed (engine, transmission, pump, pump transfer case, rear axle).

Only straight 40 weight oil has been used in the engine as recommended by Detroit Diesel for their 2-stroke engines. You do not want to use 15w40 oil in a 2-stroke Detroit. 40W oil is still produced by many oil companies and does not cost much more than 15w40 although you will have to special order it at most parts stores. The only known issue with the the fire truck is it is hard to steer when not moving forward. There is a pressure relief valve stuck on the power steering system somewhere and I have just never fixed it because it was not really a problem. I have owned this engine for almost 5 years now and driven it thousands of miles this way. It is easy to park and move in tight spaces as long as you inch forward or backwards while steering. There is some rust inside the lower compartments on the body but nothing that can not be fixed with some sheet steel. All of the compartments are structurally sound and will hold plenty of tools.

What you see in the picture is what you get with the truck (ladders and hard sleeve suction hoses) + original SCBA rear jump seats. There are no other tools, hoses, extinguishers included.

Feel free to come and test drive it before you bid. This engine is in great shape and someone will get a great deal as this engine cost over $250,000 when it was new in 1983. Call 443-398-0174 for any other questions. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!
Enjoy life - it has an expiration date.
