I had one; GM chassis, 454, TH-400, aluminum body.
Despite the cumbersome appearance, it probably weighed less than a pickup truck and with that city delivery axle cog it would really launch.  :burnout:

When a driver thinks his car's "all that," nothing seems quite so humbling as not being able to take the Little Debbie snack truck.  :ha ha:

Except maybe the diaper truck, but that's another story.

I want a 50's or 60's panel truck

Not a bread truck

Who ever finds me one first wins something.

So everybody get busy and hurry up I'll even trade my 81 corvette!

We saw this one on Sunday. It's a 1-ton chassis, but I don't think it's for sale.

I wonder if Camel Tow ever ran a van division?  :chin:

Nice pics GM.

Check out the 292 oil filter.

Pierre the artist must have started out to draw a 6-71  :ha ha:

Then he took care of that troublesome head gasket too.  :scratchhead:

Looks like he drew the fuel filter to me.

But the 283................A real legend. Like the 318 Mopar, the 289 Ford, you just couldn't break them.

It's hard to win an argument with a smart person, but it's damned near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person.

But it looks like Pierre did get the taller side covers right. And that big oil bath air cleaner says HD application, like that big oil filter.

Yes, those 283's were indestructible. One of GM's great engines.

Oh man Clinkster, I think you'd be miles ahead with at least the '56-up type truck.
And the  '65 type is practically modern design, as far as driveability and upgrading goes.
